Volunteer committees assist the Association with matters of ongoing importance to the industry and to BOMA members.
Awards Committee
Chair, Paul Webster, The Forks North Portage Partnership
The Awards of Excellence program recognizes excellence in building operations and property management as well as customer service and innovation.
Buildings and personnel nominated for awards are assessed on their knowledge and understanding of building operation systems, energy management techniques, preventative maintenance and other fundamentals. The Building of the Year (TOBY) award is given in categories related to building size and use as well as modernization achievements and historic preservation. The Earth Award is presented to a building that has made a significant effort to address environmental issues. Buildings are evaluated by a committee of experts on the basis of architectural significance, community impact and property management programs.
The Pinnacle Awards recognize Excellence in Customer Service, Innovation and Above and Beyond categories. Additional categories recognize the individual or team performance and skills of building management and operations.
Codes and Standards
Chair, Gerry Harms, Dominion Construction
The Codes and Standards Committee is responsible for establishing BOMA Manitoba as the premier source of information and for developing proposed action / advocacy on codes and standards issues.
Energy and Environment
Chair, Barry Evenson, The City of Winnipeg
The Energy and Environment Committee is responsible for establishing BOMA Manitoba as the premier source of information and for developing proposed action / advocacy on environment and energy issues.

Golf Tournament
Chair, Larry Willman, MJ Roofing
This committee develops and promotes the annual BOMA Golf Classic, which serves as another terrific networking opportunity for BOMA Manitoba members. The event has also been a major fundraiser for local Manitoba charities including the Rainbow Society and MS Society, Manitoba Division.
Government Affairs and Advocacy
Chair, Paul LaBossiere, PML Maintenance
The Government Affairs and Advocacy Committee acts as a liaison between the Board of Directors and the task forces responsible for specific topic areas related to government legislative and political issues. The Committee identifies both existing and emerging issues and prepares recommendations for the Board.
Membership
Chair, Karen Lund, Morguard Investments
It is the role of this committee to promote membership and facilitate the approval of new member applications. Firms with regional offices in other cities may be members and the territory of Nunavut falls within the BOMA Manitoba regional boundaries. However, the majority of members are Winnipeg-based. Principal members own and / or manage commercial property including offices, retail or industrial space and institutions.
Other membership categories include Professionals (architects, engineers, designers, lawyers, brokers, consultants) and Allied service and supply members. BOMA Manitoba members are also members of BOMA Canada.
Marketing and Development
Chair, Lisa Bright, Crown Property Management Inc.
This committee is focused on providing member education and public awareness on issues of concern to the commercial real estate industry. Research and Development coordinates the efforts of other committees to ensure the development of a balanced annual agenda in a variety of formats:

Coordinates seminars and BOMI courses

Selects topics and secures speakers for monthly luncheon meetings
In partnership with the building Owners and Mangers Institute (BOMI), the committee provides members with programs that include Real Property Administrator (RPA), Facilities Management Administrator (FMA), Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA), Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) and continuing education short courses.
Sponsorship
Chair, Darcy Payne, Bentall LP
The sponsorship committee develops, promotes and coordinates a program that allows interested members to support BOMA events in return for BOMA promotion of their firm. Monthly luncheons and special events such as Awards Luncheon, Golf Classic and International Christmas Luncheon feature BOMA member sponsors.
